International Awards

At the 79th Annual Convention of Civitan International, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Civitan Club of Perth was the recipient of two of the most prestigious awards that Civitan International can bestow upon any of its clubs. At the opening ceremonies on Sunday evening, the Civitan Club of Perth was presented with the Founder's Award and on Tuesday morning at the awards ceremony the club received a plaque for the most outstanding service project of the 1997-98 year.
At the 81st Annual Convention of Civitan International, held in Jacksonville, Florida, the Civitan Club of Perth was again the recipient of the Founder's Award for the 1999-2000 year.
At the 82nd Annual Convention of Civitan International, held in Miami, Florida, the Civitan Club of Perth was again the recipient of the Founder's Award for the 2000-2001 year. This is the third time in four years that the Perth club has received this award. Quite an accomplishment for a club from small town Ontario.
The Founder's Award annually recognizes the
most outstanding Civitan Club from all clubs throughout the world. This
award is presented to the club deemed to be the most outstanding club,
worldwide, as selected by an independent panel of judges. Judging is based on
the club's complete year of work and activities in the areas of service,
knowledge, fellowship, club management and membership as well as the total
excellence and dedication of the club and its members to the ideals of Civitan.
An application must be completed and submitted to Civitan International for
consideration. Clubs from all across the world apply for this award
annually.
The Outstanding Community Service Award is presented annually, to the Civitan
Club which provides the most outstanding service to its community through a
single project. Any category of service is acceptable for this award.
Consideration is given to the project's overall benefit to the community and the
involvement of the club membership in the completion of the project. The
Civitan Club of Perth received this award for our performance during the Ice
Storm of '98 when we set up and maintained a shelter to benefit the residents of
our community for a period of twelve days.
