Civitan Club of Perth
Fundraising

As a service organization, the Civitan Club of Perth is always challenged to provide assistance to people and organizations within our community.   In most instances this assistance is provided in the form of a monetary contribution.  In order to enable us to provide this monetary assistance, Civitan volunteers work extremely hard to raise funds which are then redistributed to those in need.  Although we participate in a large number of fundraisimg projects, our major source of revenue remains our weekly Wednesday night bingo.

During the course of any year, many fundraising projects are undertaken to help us to support our many varied causes.  You may see Civitan members standing out in the cold, in front of the Liquor Store or the Beer Store, selling tickets on our annual glass turkey draw.  Perhaps you will see a Civitan riding the bicycle built for thirty in the Perth Fair parade or maybe even see one sitting on a cold, wet board waiting to be dunked at the dunk tank during the Perth Fair.  All of the funds raised in these endeavors are redistributed for the benefit of the citizens of Perth and district.

As a result of our success in raising funds, many local organizations, institutions and individuals have benefited.  Over the years, the Civitan Club of Perth has contributed over $110,000 to the Great War Memorial Hospital of Perth District and $105,000 to the Town of Perth for a ball diamond and skateboard park at the Conlon Farm Recreation Facility.  We have been annual supporters of the Perth Fastball Shootout, Friends in Sport Fishing, the V.I.P. programs of most of the local elementary schools, the citizenship awards at the same schools as well as many other annual local events and programs.  Individuals have been assisted in the purchase of wheelchairs, braces and other therapeutic devices by the Civitan Club of Perth.   Minor sports organizations also benefit from the generosity of our organization.   The Civitan Club of Perth sponsors teams and/or purchases equipment for minor baseball, minor soccer and minor hockey.  The Civitan Club of Perth also supports the Ontario Special Olympics by hosting competitions and other social activities at our hall on County Road #43.

The Civitan Club of Perth participates in the Perth Fair Parade and the Perth Santa Claus Parade.  Although fundraising for ourselves is very important, we also take time out to assist other organizations.  We canvas annually for the Kidney Foundation, sell daffodils for the Canadian Cancer Society each April and support the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal at Christmas.

As you can see, the Perth Civitan Club is very active in its support of the Perth community.
