Spring Fundraising Activities
C.H.E.O. Telethon & Breakfast
Every spring, the Civitan Club of Perth assists the Children's Miracle Network Telethon by operating the Perth area pledge center. Civitan Club of Perth and Perth Junior Civitan Club members answer the telephones and forward all the pledges and challenges to the central desk in Ottawa. While many members are performing this service, others are preparing breakfast at the Perth Civitan Hall. A hearty breakfast of eggs, homefries, toast and bacon, ham or sausage is served from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a cost of $3.00 per person. The price is reasonable, the helpings are plentiful, the company is great and best of all, the proceeds are donated to the Children's Miracle Network Telethon.
Festival of the Maples
The Civitan Club of Perth has participated in the Perth Festival of the Maples for many years. Over the years we have presented many different displays including the seat belt convincer, provided by the Perth detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. We have had the help of the Perth Junior Civitan Club to sell tickets on a lawn tractor, a quilt and hand crafted birdhouses. Last year we participateed in Lay it on the Line, a fundraising project for Ontario Special Olympics. Watch for us next year to see what we will be doing.
In late March or early April of each year, Paul Royter, master hypnotist, is welcomed to Perth by the Civitan Club of Perth. Paul presents a great show in the P. & D.C.I. auditorium. The Civitan Club of Perth allows the advance people from the show to use our hall, from where all local merchants are contacted for advertising and residents are contacted for tickets. When they call about this show next spring, please remember that your purchase of advertising or a ticket to the show eventually benefits your community.
